Release v3.5.0: App Labels, Multiple schedules, Custom app backup/restore Configs
Thanks to all the users who helped test v3.5.0 beta releases in our Telegram group.
Release highlights
- New premium features: App labels, Multiple backup schedules, Custom app backup/restore configurations
- Local batch backup/restore of apps is now a free feature. App cloud backups are now a premium feature. Non-premium users can still restore existing app cloud backups.
- Experimental support for ROMs without Google Play Services as you can now sign-in with Google using a browser (More details below).
Note:
- You may need to reconnect your Cloud service in the app for this release.
- It is advised to take fresh backups for apps with this version due to new backup optimizations added in this version.
🏷️ App Labels (Premium)
Create labels for your apps and use them in filtering the app list, creating custom app backup/restore configurations or setting a scheduled backup for specific labelled apps.
🛠️️ Configs: Custom backup/restore configurations (Premium, Advanced/Rooted users only)
With configs, you can now customize every backup and restore setting for apps based on applied labels and then run batch backup/restore using the configs. For example, you may want to encrypt only some of your apps or upload only some of your apps to cloud.
Guide on how to use configs here: www.swiftapps.org/configs
⏰ Multiple backup schedules (Premium)
Create multiple schedules for your apps, messages and call logs. Schedule feature has been revamped with more customizations as requested by many power users. Want to backup to cloud only once a week, or backup apps using multiple quick actions? That is now possible. In addition to setting up app schedules by Quick actions, you can now add schedules based on App Labels or Configs as well.
🧪 Experimental support for ROMs without Google Play Services (Eg. AOSP/migroG ROMs)
Swift Backup now supports signing in with Google using a supported modern browser like Firefox, Chrome, etc. This essentially removes the built-in Google apps requirement that we had until now and the app can now run on ROMs without Google Play services. Since such ROMs do not support Google Play purchase APIs, to use premium in SB:
- Purchase Swift Backup's 'Lifetime' plan using a supported ROM with working Google Play Store.
- Share the purchasing Google account email id with us at support@swiftapps.org and we'll activate premium for that account within 24 hrs.
IMPORTANT: On such ROMs, you can only use premium if you sign-in with the Google account with which you purchased the 'Lifetime' plan. So make sure you purchase the 'Lifetime' plan using the Google account you want to use in Swift Backup.
⚠️ Old WebDAV based options will be removed in future updates after a few months
New WebDAV options have been added with 'New' suffix and they have some core changes w.r.t. stability and convenience. Please remove or restore your backups taken with older WebDAV options (Custom WebDAV, ownCloud, Nextcloud, CloudMail-Ru) and start using the new WebDAV options soon.
